Welcome!

Hello! My name is Charla O'Neal and I am the Dyslexia Teacher for Elementary and Intermediate campuses. I am a graduate of Elkhart High School and I have been teaching here for 28 years.  I attended college at TVCC in Palestine, and transferred to UT Tyler where I earned my bachelor's degree in education.  I have taught Kindergarten, fifth grade, and fourth grade throughout my career.  It is true that Elkhart ISD is a great place to learn and work as well.  My husband, Philip and I are blessed to be the parents of two sons, Landon and Jacob, who fill our lives with love, laughter and fun.  Faith, family and school are my top priorities in life.

Reading is my favorite subject and helping students learn to read is rewarding. I love seeing students succeed and build confidence in themselves.  I hope to make reading a fun journey by helping students learn the strategies they need to enhance their reading skills.  A big part of a child's success is a positive attitude and the will to work hard every day.  My goal is to encourage your child to do their best as I give my best to them as well. At the end of the day, I hope that everyone I come in contact with will feel loved, accepted and valued.

I'm looking forward to a great year!
